Here's how the latest mobile computer and phone technology is being used with National Geographic TOPO! Pro, to create an interactive information-sharing network.
Combining National Geographic's TOPO! Pro mobile publish and subscribe functionality, with the latest mobile hardware options, we have developed a system that enables any organization to combine their database with maps, and to constantly update those maps with new information as it happens. Some organizations are using the system to tie field personnel overseas with a central U.S. locations. This solution requires that information be updated as often as every 30 seconds, and be transmitted to their U.S. location for analysis. "Publishers" at the central location could then transmit new information back to each of the field personnel so that all maps and information could be shared by the entire team.
